7 time Scottish comedy award nominee. He has appeared on BBC Scotland for The Comedy Underground & Breaking the News. Several sold out Edinburgh fringe shows & appeared at the New York comedy festival. Hailing from sunny Perth, this is one comic with two sides. Cheeky chappy he may be, but many a heckler has made the mistake of thinking that’s all there is…Joe had his first gig in the Grassmarket in Edinburgh in 1995 and has been a professional comic for the last three years. He has gigged all over Britain and is a regular at The Stand’s Best of Scottish Comedy shows, which sell out every Fringe.Career highlights include an appearance on The Weakest Link Stand-up Special. At least, it was a highlight, until Des Clarke voted him off. Joe has, understandably, never quite forgiven him. A writer as well as a performer, Joe has had success in radio and television comedy with credits on The Karen Dunbar Show, The Live Floor Show and Chewing the Fat. Joe has also appeared in advertising campaigns for Bank of Scotland and the Scottish Sun.
Sylas Szabolcs, Transylvanian actor trained and based in the UK. Welcome!
I'm madly in love with stories and what we can achieve through them. I always found myself the centre of attention, probably because I was always trying to be the centre of attention, so I have decided to turn that into something meaningful.
In eight years acting has gone from a secret extra curricular activity that I pursued in tiny Transylvania to a budding profession in the UK market. Having finished Acting Coach Scotland's Intensive One Year course in the winter of 2017, I was finally ready to step into the business. However, life throws curveballs at us every now and again, so I decided to take some time off to deal with personal issues. But I returned in 2019 with a new ferocity that ended up securing my first TV role with the BBC. Since then the career has been going from strength to strength. I have had another role with the BBC, performed in London commissioned by the Liszt Institute, started doing stand-up, just finishing a play and have been creating weekly vlogs on Youtube as well as interviews with immigrant artists living in the UK. So yeah, life has been glorious. I'm proud of all the effort I've been putting in and humbly grateful for the opportunities coming my way.
Let's hustle.
An actor, writer, and comic, ML is best known for her role as Maggie in BBC Scotland's hit comedy 'Scot Squad', and was a previous semi-finalist in both 'Scotland's Comedian of The Year’ and ‘Funny Women UK’. (Other accolades include being a Blue Peter badge holder, and passing her cycling proficiency first time). Nowadays she continues to write for BBC radio, and can be seen performing on the Scottish Comedy Circuit, particularly in the north-east where she’s based.
