Since his first stand up appearance at 'The Stand Comedy Club' in Glasgow in 2001, Bratchy has been found regularly at comedy clubs around Scotland and the north of England , mostly as an act, but occasionally just propping up the bar.He is a member of The Bratchpiece Family, Scotland's only genuine family of stand up comedians, which also includes his dad, the highly regarded Mark Bratchpiece, and his little brother, who is one half of the wildly talented double act Martin and the Wee Man.In 2002 Bratchy appeared as part of the line up of 'Stand Up Scotland' at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.In 2003 he was a semi-finalist in both the BBC New comedy Awards and the Laughing Horse New Act of the Year competitions. In 2004 he joined forces with the other members of the family for 'The Bratchpiece Family Show' as part of the Glasgow International Comedy Festival, a show which was a resolute sell out and ended in a raucous standing ovation. From the audience, thankfully. The family are hoping to repeat this show's success with an all new family show during the 2005 Glasgow festival. Bratchy is also a regular compere and headline performer for a new act night in the Glasgow and Edinburgh 'Stand' Comedy clubs. Outside of stage work, he has appeared in short film pieces, music promos and one feature length film made in Scotland by comedians. Other notable gigs include compering stripper (sorry, exotic dancing) shows and winning over a largely septugenarian audience as part of a Rabbie Burns festival in Ayr, a demographic which his act is not exactly aimed at.....
